The goal of the project was to create a unique logo for a fantasy football league, The client wanted something that stood out and not a simple icon but had more complexity to it. The final design needed to display well on a PDF document and business card.
Kewl Boy’s Fantasy Football League is a league my friend made and takes extremely seriously, he was willing to pay for design work.
Based on the requirements I was giving I decided to draw the logo in illustrator, I started from an image and used a 3 pixel brush to outline various parts and break it into sections.
I knew I had to make the colours interchangeable and utilize the background colour throughout the design. This way the white space becomes part of the logo and blends into the page layout of various documents.
One of the main ideas that was important to me with the design was having the player be anonymous, without a number and defined facial features he could be anyone which meant he could represent any of the players in the fantasy football league.
after settling on the design I applied it to several objects using different techniques in photoshop and illustrator like vanishing point, distort, warp, perspective grid and mockup templates.
One of the things I liked about the final design is I could see it working on surfaces it wasn’t initially intended for like clothing.
It was important to me that the design showcased typographic elements that were already unanimous with football. That is why I made the” KBFFL” on the jersey similar to the NFL logo.
For the business card I wanted to draw attention to the name and contact information in a way that was pleasing to the eye, I accomplished this by using clear hierarchy and whitespace.
